Huron Athletics is a non-profit organization founded in 2012, by Rick Carr, a lifelong running enthusiast, to pass on his passion to his boys and other young athletes. Huron holds practices 3 nights a week, corresponding with the USATF Arizona track season, from early January through mid-June. While training, athletes are guided by certified coaches to help build endurance, speed, and the special skills needed to succeed at their chosen events. Team membership costs cover entry fees in all meets (typically 10 – 12 per season), uniforms, and facility costs.
Athletes are strongly encouraged, but not required to attend all practices and all meets. The emphasis is always on personal improvement. Depending on the athlete, success can be defined as “personal bests,” all the way up to contending for national championships. The coaches will guide each athlete to help them achieve their goals. Above all else, the athletes will develop dedication, friendships, and have fun throughout the season. |
